How we work

Editorial standards

Our guides help students make decisions about medical school applications, so they have to be right. This page explains who writes them, who checks them, and how we keep them accurate.

Authors

Our guides are written by scholr advisors who went through the admissions process themselves: medical students who were accepted recently, and physicians. When a guide names its author, their school and training appear under the title, and the name links to the advisor's own page.

Review

All admissions advice in our guides is reviewed by somebody who has served on a medical school admissions committee. The reviewer's name and the date of the review appear under the title.

Sources

Requirements, deadlines and limits come from the organizations that set them: OMSAS for Ontario, the AAMC for AMCAS and the MCAT, AACOMAS for osteopathic schools, and each school's own admissions pages. Where a rule differs between schools, we name the school.

Updates

Admissions rules change from one cycle to the next. When a rule a guide describes changes, we update the guide, and the date at the top of the guide shows when it last changed.

Corrections

If you find a mistake in one of our guides, email info@scholr.com and tell us which guide and which sentence. We'll check it against the source and correct the guide.
