Panel question

Co-organizer upset about going over their head

Kind
Role-play

Prompt

Imagine I am your co-organizer for a charity run. I missed two deadlines, and instead of talking to me, you raised it with the board, who have now taken the sponsorship work away from me. I have just found out, and I am upset with you. Pretend I am that co-organizer. What would you say to me?

How to approach this question

This role-play tests whether you can face a teammate you've hurt, own your part, and still stand by a concern that was real. Start by letting your co-organizer say how they feel before you explain anything, and show that you've heard it. Acknowledge plainly that going to the board without talking to them first damaged their trust, and apologize for how you handled it, without pretending the two missed deadlines didn't put the charity run at risk. Ask what was going on for them when the deadlines slipped, since there may be a reason you never asked about. Close by proposing how the two of you can work together from here and what you'd do differently next time a teammate falls behind, and stay in character for the whole conversation.
