How to approach this question
This panel interview question tests how you reason about obligations to your own community against the chance to help more people farther away. Lay out both views fairly: closeness brings knowledge, accountability and ties to the people you serve, while money can often do more good where needs are greater. Explain the criteria you'd use, such as evidence that a charity works, transparency and how many people each dollar reaches. Say what role your personal values play, and whether splitting the gift is a fair answer or a way of avoiding the choice. Commit to a decision and explain what would change your mind.
