Prompt
You captain an adult recreational soccer team that you and your friends started four years ago. Your teammate Jordan, your best scorer and the person who organizes the team's schedule and fees, yells at referees almost every game. Last night he swore at a 16-year-old referee over a call, and she left the field in tears. The league has told you that she plans to quit, that referees are already hard to find, and that one more incident will remove your team from the playoffs. Jordan says the call was wrong and that the referee needs thicker skin. As captain, what would you do?

How to approach it
This MMI station tests whether you'll confront a friend and key teammate when his behavior harms someone vulnerable, in this case a 16-year-old referee who may quit. Name everyone affected: the referee, the league, your teammates and their season, and Jordan himself, who runs the team's schedule and fees. Show that you'd speak to Jordan privately and directly, and ask aloud what consequences the team is willing to set. Weigh a warning, an apology to the referee, a suspension or asking him to leave, and commit to one with clear expectations for what happens next. When the station adds pressure from other players, explain how you'd weigh keeping the team together against the standard you've set as captain.
