How to approach it

This behavioral panel interview question tests whether you understand autonomy: people have the right to make choices you believe are mistakes, and caring about someone doesn't give you the right to override them. Choose a real story where the stakes mattered to you and where you clearly disagreed. Explain what you did to share your concerns honestly before stepping back, and how you judged where your role ended, such as whether they had the full picture and whether the consequences fell mainly on them. Describe how you supported them afterward, whatever the outcome. Finish with what the experience taught you about respecting a person's decisions, and connect it briefly to how you'd treat patients who choose differently than you would.
