Teammate's private plan to leave
- Kind
- Practical scenario
Prompt
You captain a recreational soccer team. A teammate tells you privately that she will move away next month for her partner's new job, but she wants to tell the team herself after this weekend's tournament. The coach, who must submit next season's roster by Friday, asks you directly whether anyone is planning to leave. What would you do?

How to approach this question
This panel interview question tests confidentiality under pressure: your teammate trusted you with private news, and the coach has a real need for accurate information by Friday. Show that you take both duties seriously, and that you'd want to avoid lying to the coach as much as breaking her confidence. Consider going back to her first to explain the deadline and ask whether she'll tell the coach herself, and weigh that against giving the coach a careful answer now. Ask aloud what happens if the roster is wrong, and whether the coach could be told privately without the team hearing before the tournament. Land on a clear plan, and explain how it respects her right to share her own news.
