From Two Failed Cycles to Six Medical School Acceptances

The starting point

Hallie's first attempt was, in her own words, naive. She had just returned from exchange, got sick, and submitted in July without understanding that admissions are rolling. She applied almost entirely to very high tier schools, with an application that was nowhere near ready for them.

She had help that cycle, but it was generic. The edits could have been written for anyone, the feedback ran to cliche, and she did not feel her application was anyone's priority.

What changed

The difference was working with several people rather than one, particularly medical students who had been through the process recently themselves. She also looked at Astroff and found them vague about what their editing actually involved. She did not want a note saying expand on this. She wanted someone in the detail of what she had written.

The pricing mattered too. Her previous consultant billed hourly, and she never knew how many hours were going into her essays. Paying upfront meant she could send another secondary, or one more email, without doing arithmetic first.

The result

On her third cycle, Hallie was accepted to Harvard, Brown, Rochester, UMass, NYMC and UBC. She is going to Harvard. Her summary of the experience: there was never a point where she felt negative or frustrated, and everyone was all hands on deck and supportive of her journey.
